Popular Fishing Knots
There are many different
knots you can use when fishing. I will go over some of the most used knots by
fishers all of the country.
The first and easiest knot to tie
is the clinch knot. To tie this knot, follow the steps below:
1.
Feed
the fishing line through the hole of the hook and pull a few inches of the line
through the hook.
2.
Wrap
the end of the line a few times around the line.
3.
Then
thread the end of the line through the loop closest to the hole of the hook.
4.
Next,
pull both lines together so that the knot tightens properly around the eye (hoe
of the hook).
5.
Lastly,
trim the loose end of the line.
The
next knot is the Palomar knot. This is considered the strongest
fishing knot you can tie. It is also fairly easy to complete.
1.
Double
the fishing line making a loop.
2.
Thread
the loop through the hole of the hook.
3.
Then
tie an overhand knot, big enough to feed line through.
4.
Next,
tread the loop around the fishing hook.
5.
Gently
pull lines to tighten the knot.
6.
Finally,
trim the loose end of the line if needed.
Another
knot that is strong but tricky is the Space-End Knot. This is used if the hook
does not have a hole in it. Here is how to tie this tricky knot:
1.
Lay
the line under the hook and form a loop.
2.
Pinch
the line together using your fingers.
3.
Take
the tag line and wrap it a few times around the shank (towards the bottom) of
the hook.
4.
Pass
the end of the line through the loop behind the hook.
5.
Pull
on both ends firmly.
6.
Finally,
trim the loose end of the line if needed.
