Stu Hott Interview

I interviewed my friend, Stu Hott, about his trip to Percy Preist Lake outside of Nashville, Tennessee. He did a variety of techniques to catch different types of fish throughout the lake.

Q: How long was your trip to Percy Preist Lake?

A: I was on a five-day fishing expedition to Percy Preist. This allowed me to fish different techniques and try for an abundant of species. Alos, it gave me the opportunity to have more chances to get more fish even if a day or two was not as good.

Q: What types of fishing did you do?

A: I did three types of fishing while I was in Tennessee. I participated in open water, jugging, and bank fishing.

Q: Which type of fishing did you have the most success with?

A: Open water fishing was the technique I got the most action with. I caught a lot of largemouth bass and crappies in the open water.

Q: What bait did you use that was so successful?

A: For bass, the best one I used was a purple chatter bait. This really popped with the fish and was very popular for most of the time I used it. However, for crappie, I used different spinner baits that attracted them for my whole trip.

Q: Were you allowed to keep any fish, and did you keep any?

A: We actually did keep some fish that we caught, but we only kept the crappie and catfish we caught.

Q: What did you do with the fish?

A: The fish we did keep, we cooked down in Tennessee for dinner. However, you had to be careful in what you kept from the lake.

Q: What regulations did you have to follow to keep the fish?

A: For crappie, they had to be 15" long and there was a 30 fish limit for the day. For catfish, there is no limit on length or number per day.

Q: How did you catch the catfish in Percy Preist Lake?

A: To catch catfish we used jugs. They had to be tagged and regulated to be legal. However, we had everything we needed and was a great five days for catfishing.

Q: Would you recommend this lake for others to go?

A: I definitely would recommend this lake for anyone to go. There are great species of fish and techniques you can use for anyone to enjoy.
