Catfish Fishing VS Bass Fishing

There are major differences when trying to catch catfish or bass. Everything changes, from your fishing pole, line, bait, and techniques that are used.

Catfish

To catch catfish, first you will start with your rod and reel. You will want a thick and strong pole that can with stand some weight on it. You will also want to get durable line. There are different weights that lines can hold and it is important to get the line that will be strong enough to not break when the fish pulls on it. I prefer using a treble hook, but you can use a traditional hook as well. For bait, liver or another kind of stink bait is the best thing to use when luring catfish in.

Next, you will want to throw you hook out with weights so it will sink towards the bottom. Most catfish swim along the bottom of ponds or lakes. This is why you will need a bobber to hang your line down and wait on the fish to bite.

Bass

To catch bass, you will first want a lighter pole and reel. Most bass are not huge in weight but can be. For bass, 3-5lb weighted line will be sufficient enough to reel in a fish effectively. You can use treble hooks or traditional hooks to catch bass. There are many different baits you can use, including lures, worms, or grubs.

Next, you will decide on whether to use a bobber or just to reel your bait in. Either one can be effective, and once you fish more in a spot you will have a better feel for the fish.
