Instructional: How to set up your fishing pole

 1. Get your basic essentials you will need for your pole. These things will include a fishing rod, reel, fishing line, a lure, and a bobber or weight if you are wanting extra accessories.

2. You will first need to attach your reel to your rod. To do this, you must slide your reel onto your rod. Next, screw your reel onto your rod on the bottom or top. If you have an open reel, it will be facing toward the bottom.

3. Once you have your rod and reel in tact, you will want to put your line in your reel. This is simple, first tie your line to the spool of the reel. You will have to open your reel if you have a bait caster or close faced reel. Next, feed your line through the eyes of the rod. Your line will be on a spool that your buy it on. To keep it steady, put a pencil in the middle and start to steadily reel in more line until you are satisfied with the amount of line you have.

4. Next you will want to tie on your hook or lure. There are several ways to do this. A very effective way is to loop around the hook and wrap your line around the hook multiple time before tightening. I have attached a photo below for help.

5. Next, if wanted, you can put your bobber on. This is used for anglers who want the bait to wade out in the water. Just push down on the top and run the line through the hook. Generally, the bobber will be put eight inches from the hook. If you want weights to drag the bait towards the bottom of the water, use plyers to push down the weights right above the hook.

6. After these steps, you are ready to fish!
