What is Lake Shelbyville? Lake Shelbyville is a lake located in central Illinois in Shelbyville. Growing up here, I have learned just how good of a place Lake Shelbyville is. It is known for its size, along with how clean it is. This lake flows into the Kaskaskia River and has been a hot bed for fishers all around. Lake Shelbyville is a naturally fed lake, with no pollution run off that goes into it. This lake is in a small town but does not mean it does not have resources for great fishing. Resources Lake Shelbyville has an abundance of resources. The Army Corps of Engineers over sees the lake and all projects that go on around in. This prevents anyone from building on the banks or the lake. With no one on the banks, it allows the lake to be quiet and ideal for fish habitats to thrive.
