Freshwater Fish Populations Prediction

Through recent years, freshwater fish populations have been dwindling in numbers. This has been affecting all species in freshwater. There are numerous variables effecting the species and are mostly our own fault. If we do not change, I predict we will completely eliminate species of fish we have grown accustomed to. I will go over a few problems that are continuing to hurt these populations. Overfishing has been a problem throughout lakes across the United States. Fishers not paying attention to size and weight requirements, along with taking an amount that exceeds the limits per day. This led to not enough mature fish to promote sufficient spawning. Pollution always has been a problem in waters, and it does not change for freshwater. People are throwing away trash into lakes. Any kind of trash is damaging to fish because unhealthy water diminishes these species and not much is changing. Invasive species has become a major problem. Introducing any type of animal with no natural p...

Informational: Lake Shelbyville

What is Lake Shelbyville? Lake Shelbyville is a lake located in central Illinois in Shelbyville. Growing up here, I have learned just how good of a place Lake Shelbyville is. It is known for its size, along with how clean it is. This lake flows into the Kaskaskia River and has been a hot bed for fishers all around. Lake Shelbyville is a naturally fed lake, with no pollution run off that goes into it. This lake is in a small town but does not mean it does not have resources for great fishing. Resources Lake Shelbyville has an abundance of resources. The Army Corps of Engineers over sees the lake and all projects that go on around in. This prevents anyone from building on the banks or the lake. With no one on the banks, it allows the lake to be quiet and ideal for fish habitats to thrive. They also have programs that build fish habitats that are put in the lake to promote breeding. Another resource is the campgrounds around the lake. These campgrounds are perfect for fishers who want to ...

Instructional: How to set up your fishing pole

Image
 1. Get your basic essentials you will need for your pole. These things will include a fishing rod, reel, fishing line, a lure, and a bobber or weight if you are wanting extra accessories. 2. You will first need to attach your reel to your rod. To do this, you must slide your reel onto your rod. Next, screw your reel onto your rod on the bottom or top. If you have an open reel, it will be facing toward the bottom. 3. Once you have your rod and reel in tact, you will want to put your line in your reel. This is simple, first tie your line to the spool of the reel. You will have to open your reel if you have a bait caster or close faced reel. Next, feed your line through the eyes of the rod. Your line will be on a spool that your buy it on. To keep it steady, put a pencil in the middle and start to steadily reel in more line until you are satisfied with the amount of line you have. 4. Next you will want to tie on your hook or lure. There are several ways to do this. A very effective w...

About Me

My Reasoning I came up with this idea because of my childhood being spent outdoors and in nature. Growing up in a small rural town, days were spent outdoors on the lake and fishing. This is where I learned how and grew my affection for fishing. My love for this is the reason for wanting to spread my knowledge of wildlife, and also help preserve it. Classics Popular fish in lakes and ponds in Midwestern United States include bass, crappie, catfish, and sun fish. These are beautiful species of fish, and also wonderful to catch. Uses These fish are used for food, but also for fun and sport. It is a big market in the food industry all across the world, not just the United States. Also, it is a great hobby to have because it gives people time away from electronics and busy work. However, landing a fish is quite a thrill and once you have done it once, you only want more! Relaxing Fishing is a very relaxing hobby that can help people become more in touch with themselves an...
