Popular Fishing Knots

There are many different knots you can use when fishing. I will go over some of the most used knots by fishers all of the country. The first and easiest knot to tie is the clinch knot. To tie this knot, follow the steps below: 1.       Feed the fishing line through the hole of the hook and pull a few inches of the line through the hook. 2.       Wrap the end of the line a few times around the line. 3.       Then thread the end of the line through the loop closest to the hole of the hook. 4.       Next, pull both lines together so that the knot tightens properly around the eye (hoe of the hook). 5.       Lastly, trim the loose end of the line. The next knot is the Palomar knot. This is considered the strongest fishing knot you can tie. It is also fairly easy to complete.   1.       Double the fishing line maki...

However, I would like to add a few options that I found to perform very well.  Small Wake baits      Strike King 2.5 Wake Bait Blue Gill This wake bait is great for bass because it looks just like a small blue gill, which is a favorite food of a bass. This lure also as great movement with the water by having the back end moving rapidly.     Fish Lab Bio Shad This is a minnow looking wake bait that is disconnected in the middle of the lure. Inexperienced Fishers

There are a few things that bother me about inexperienced fishers. These are things you should know when fishing with other people or in a public place. Distance When fishing in a public place with people it is important to maintain your distance from other fishers. Stand 50 feet away from someone else so you both have space. It is very Irritating when someone comes and stands too close to you and your fishing area. This distance also prevents lines getting crossed. Nothing gets me angrier than crossing my line with someone who does not know what they are doing. Sound Level Fishing is a quiet activity. If you are with your friends then do what you want, but not in a public place. being too loud can scare fish away and it is annoying. Also, do not put your pole in the water or hit the water with your pole. It is surprising how many unexperienced fishers will do this to try to get attention. It will do nothing but anger the people around you. Know The Basic When going fishing with s...

Freshwater Fish Populations Prediction

Through recent years, freshwater fish populations have been dwindling in numbers. This has been affecting all species in freshwater. There are numerous variables effecting the species and are mostly our own fault. If we do not change, I predict we will completely eliminate species of fish we have grown accustomed to. I will go over a few problems that are continuing to hurt these populations. Overfishing has been a problem throughout lakes across the United States. Fishers not paying attention to size and weight requirements, along with taking an amount that exceeds the limits per day. This led to not enough mature fish to promote sufficient spawning. Pollution always has been a problem in waters, and it does not change for freshwater. People are throwing away trash into lakes. Any kind of trash is damaging to fish because unhealthy water diminishes these species and not much is changing. Invasive species has become a major problem. Introducing any type of animal with no natural p...

Informational: Lake Shelbyville

What is Lake Shelbyville? Lake Shelbyville is a lake located in central Illinois in Shelbyville. Growing up here, I have learned just how good of a place Lake Shelbyville is. It is known for its size, along with how clean it is. This lake flows into the Kaskaskia River and has been a hot bed for fishers all around. Lake Shelbyville is a naturally fed lake, with no pollution run off that goes into it. This lake is in a small town but does not mean it does not have resources for great fishing. Resources Lake Shelbyville has an abundance of resources. The Army Corps of Engineers over sees the lake and all projects that go on around in. This prevents anyone from building on the banks or the lake. With no one on the banks, it allows the lake to be quiet and ideal for fish habitats to thrive. They also have programs that build fish habitats that are put in the lake to promote breeding. Another resource is the campgrounds around the lake. These campgrounds are perfect for fishers who want to ...

Instructional: How to set up your fishing pole

Image
 1. Get your basic essentials you will need for your pole. These things will include a fishing rod, reel, fishing line, a lure, and a bobber or weight if you are wanting extra accessories. 2. You will first need to attach your reel to your rod. To do this, you must slide your reel onto your rod. Next, screw your reel onto your rod on the bottom or top. If you have an open reel, it will be facing toward the bottom. 3. Once you have your rod and reel in tact, you will want to put your line in your reel. This is simple, first tie your line to the spool of the reel. You will have to open your reel if you have a bait caster or close faced reel. Next, feed your line through the eyes of the rod. Your line will be on a spool that your buy it on. To keep it steady, put a pencil in the middle and start to steadily reel in more line until you are satisfied with the amount of line you have. 4. Next you will want to tie on your hook or lure. There are several ways to do this. A very effective w...
